Morehead State to host blood drive July 1
The Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) will hold a blood drive on Monday, July 1, from 2 to 6 p.m. in ballroom C of the Adron Doran University Center.
This blood drive is open to the community as well as MSU faculty and staff. Participating faculty and staff can receive points through MSU's WellRight program by donating. First-time donors can learn their blood type and save up to three lives with their donation.
"This event is an opportunity for MSU faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to contribute to Kentucky's blood supply through the Kentucky Blood Center," said Andrew Sexton (Class of 2020, 2022), coordinator of service learning with MSU's Center for Career Development & Experiential Education (CCDEE), who coordinated the event.
The Kentucky Blood Center is the largest nonprofit, independent community blood center in the Commonwealth. Founded in 1968, it has grown from a small blood bank into a regional blood center and processing facility serving more than 70 medical facilities across the state. Unlike other blood banks, which send blood to distant labs for processing and distribution, blood donated to KBC is collected, processed, and distributed locally in Kentucky for Kentucky patients.
