MSU art students featured in national journal

The Albion Review, a national literary journal, featured artwork from current students in Morehead State University's Department of Communication, Media Art & Design.

Jenefer Shin, a senior art major from Morehead, and Michele Ko, a junior graphic design major from Lexington, each had pieces featured in the publication.

Ko had one of her digital art pieces, while Shin had two, including one Albion Review selected for its 2024 cover. The two are among only nine visual artists with pieces chosen for the publication.

The Albion Review is a national literary journal based at Albion College in Albion, Michigan. It features short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art.

The 2024 issue is available at https://albionreview.com/2024-issue/.

Ko is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). They have won first-place and third-place awards at art competitions in Mount Sterling in the show categories in graphic design. The Louisville art magazine White Squirrel published their work in 2022-2023. Shin's work appeared in MSU's literary and arts journal Inscape 2024.

"The selection of Jenefer and Michele's work for this national juried undergraduate journal is an amazing accomplishment, especially the fact that it was so highly competitive that only nine undergraduate visual artists were selected for this year's publication," said Lisa Mesa-Gaido, professor of art at MSU. "This is an exciting opportunity for them to present their work to a large external audience and is a clear indication of the strength and high quality of their artwork."
