Dr. Sue Luckey named 2024 recipient of Founders Award

Dr. Sue Luckey HeadshotUpon the recommendation of President Jay Morgan, the Morehead State University Board of Regents is honored to announce Dr. Sue Luckey as the recipient of the 2024 Morehead State University Founders Award for University Service.

Established by the Board of Regents in 1978, the Founders Award recognizes individuals who have given superior service to MSU as employees or volunteers.

Luckey joined the faculty at MSU in 1963 and immediately became highly active on campus. She served as an advisor to multiple student organizations and on the faculty senate and other college and University-level committees. Luckey also served as chair of the former Department of Information Sciences in the College of Business and directed the University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

She was also the driving force behind the creation of the MSU Retirees Association. Luckey’s work to develop the program led to its being named a “national model” among its peer groups.

Even after her retirement, Luckey has remained a passionate supporter of MSU. She and her late husband, Dr. George “Mac” Luckey, continued attending MSU events and volunteering their time. Additionally, she has taken additional steps to make the University a philanthropic priority. Luckey has generously included MSU in her estate plans and established the Sue Luckey Scholarship Endowment for Business Students.
