Morehead State unveils vending machine for student needs
Morehead State University's Adron Doran University Center (ADUC) now has a new vending machine specifically for hair and hygiene products.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. MSU welcomed Melanie Day, a master cosmetologist and educator. Day is the owner of Living Curls College Beauty Supply, an initiative that now operates on four campuses across the Commonwealth. MSU is the first public university in the state to utilize this business. The program provides essential beauty and wellness products and fosters a supportive community, empowering students to prioritize self-care.
Taunya Jones (Class of 2009), MSU's special events planning manager, said this project aligns with the premise that "create the things you wish you had."
"As an African American student here in Eastern Kentucky, it was always a struggle to take care of my hair when I couldn't find the products locally. A year ago, I came across an article in the Lexington Herald-Leader about Melanie Day and her Hair Care Machine at Transylvania University. From that day on I have been working to get her here on Morehead State's Campus." said Jones.
The machine is on the 2nd floor of ADUC in the food court.
