Morehead State hosts business startup event

Morehead State University will host a startup sprint for aspiring entrepreneurs in partnership with the Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) and Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR).

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, in Room 310 in the Bert T. Combs Building. It is free, but advanced registration is required.

Derived from the "startup weekend" program created by Techstars, the two-day event will include knowledge-building educational sessions and pipeline-building. It will attract talent to the community's existing entrepreneurship programs while communicating the mission and importance that entrepreneurial support organizations like SOAR and CORI play in a startup community.

"It unites a diverse group of startup community stakeholders, including students, seasoned entrepreneurs, mentors, potential co-founders, industry experts, investors, and community leaders," said SOAR Business & Innovation Program Manager Barbara Gay. "We invite you to be part of this dynamic event as we foster an entrepreneurial ecosystem."
