-------
The MSU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble will host its annual OcTUBAfest, an event featuring traditional Oktoberfest music.
OcTUBAfest is taking place on Saturday, Sep. 28, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Battson-Oates Common Area located in downtown Morehead.
The MSU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble is partnering with Downtown Morehead, Inc., International Tuba Euphonium Association - Earle L. Louder Chapter and the MSU Department of Music, Theatre, & Dance.
The entertainment will feature various MSU faculty artists and alumni guest performers on stage. Dr. Stacy Baker, professor of music - euphonium/tuba at Morehead State University, will direct the MSU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble.
“OcTUBAFest is an annual celebration of the instruments of the tuba family. The first OcTUBAfest was held at Indiana University in 1972 by Harvey Phillips,” Baker said. “Our Morehead OcTUBAfest is styled after the traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest held in Germany, where the tuba was invented in 1835.”
