Morehead State opens theatrical season with 'Alibis'

Alibis Theatre PosterMorehead State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance is starting its theatrical season with Peter Kennedy’s “Alibis.” The show runs from Thursday, Sept. 26 through Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m., and Sept. 29th at 2 p.m. in the Lucille Caudill Little Theatre in Breckinridge Hall.

“Alibis” is a comedic murder mystery inspired by Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. It features a cast full of quirky characters including a butler, a socialite, a playboy, a chemist, and a silent nun in a classic whodunit tale.

Senior theatre major from Rockholds, Magnus Kearney directs the production. He said he enjoyed the creative freedom that came with directing the show regarding blocking and character choices. He found it interesting to try and make everything fall into place naturally.

“Some of that did come from the cast, which felt like they were trying to crack me up in new ways every day. I gave them a good amount of freedom when it came to the small things they did on stage, whether that be idle movements or reactions. Working with them has been a blast and I've been impressed with each of their performances,” said Kearney.

Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for faculty, senior citizens, and non-MSU students. MSU students get in for free. Tickets can be purchased at the box office.
