MSU Eagles return for celebratory Homecoming 2024
Eagle pride and blue and gold were on full display as students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Morehead State University returned to celebrate during this year's annual Homecoming celebration.
"Homecoming 2024 came together so well. The energy was amazing, the weather was beautiful, and we had a fantastic turnout of alumni at all of our events," said Alumni Relations & Development Events Officer Mikayla (Ray) Martin (Class of 2021). "It was a great time celebrating all things MSU. We are already looking ahead and excited for 2025!"
After a campus pep rally kicked off the Homecoming festivities on Wednesday, Oct. 9, MSU and the community came together on Thursday, Oct. 10, for the annual Homecoming parade in downtown Morehead.

On Friday, Oct. 11, Morehead State packed the day with activities and events honoring Eagles past and present while looking ahead to the future.
The morning began with the Memorial Brick Ceremony to honor faculty and staff who passed away within the last year. The event was held at the Memorial Plaza near the Little Bell Tower. The University also held two groundbreaking ceremonies for a new Science & Engineering Building and a new residence hall.
That evening, Morehead State recognized the newest members of the Alumni Hall of Fame and other award recipients, including the Founders Award for University Service. The newest Alumni Hall of Fame members are:
- Charles (Class of 1970) & Virginia (Class of 1969) Beetz
- Colonel Richard Halbleib (Class of 1974)
- Jason Otto (Class of 1996)
The Founders Award for University Service was awarded to Dr. Sue Luckey.
Recipients of the 2024 Alumni Awards are:
- Notable Alumni Award – Dr. Cheri Carnes Rebar (Class of 1988)
- Rising Eagle Award – Andrew Gillette (Class of 2015)
- Eagle Spirit Award – Roger Gillespie (Class of 1996)

Homecoming attendees were also able to check out “Since We’ve Been Gone: 2024 MSU Alumni Exhibition,” which held an opening reception at the Golding-Yang Art Gallery. The exhibition will be on display until Friday, Nov. 1.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, Eagles gathered to reconnect in the athletic complex for a Homecoming tailgate. Later that afternoon, more than 8,200 gathered at Jayne Stadium to watch MSU Eagle Football claim victory in a 14-7 win over Presbyterian College.
During halftime, Karington Little, a senior from Lexington, and Bryce Allen, a senior from Paintsville, were crowned as this year's Homecoming Queen and King. Members of the Homecoming Court were Hannah Albright (senior, Carlisle), Rickayln Rayburn (senior, Olive Hill), Grace Stubblefield (senior, Boyd County), Chynah Thompson-Walters (senior, Salt Lick), Mason Fyffe (senior, Garrison), Trey Lambert (senior, Mt. Sterling), John Maxey (senior, Morehead) and Kyler Stewart (senior, Richmond).
The MSU Women’s Soccer team also battled with Southern Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the MSU Soccer Field.
