MSU business honor society earns Highest Honors
Morehead State University's Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) Chapter received the prestigious Highest Honors status for the 2023-24 academic year.
BGS is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International. The Highest Honors status reflects the chapter's outstanding commitment to enhancing Beta Gamma Sigma's presence on campus and fostering academic excellence in business education.
Dr. Christy L. Trent (Class of 2006), faculty advisor for the MSU BGS chapter, said the chapter has been particularly active in the past year.
"We have ensured BGS is listed as an official student organization with the University, elected student officers, and maintained a strong social media presence, sharing activities and member profiles," Trent said. "We also volunteered and assisted Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate as they hosted the Spring regional FBLA high school competitions."
"We are proud of our students for their hard work and dedication in meeting this high honor," said Department Chair and Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship Dr. Janet Ratliff (Class of 1991, 1992).
As a Highest Honors Chapter, Morehead State University's BGS chapter will receive several benefits, including:
- Recognition on the BGS website, at BGS events, and in key publications.
- Eligibility to nominate candidates for prestigious global awards.
- Opportunity to participate in the BGS Matching Scholarship Program, potentially providing a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving BGS student.
Beta Gamma Sigma membership is the highest recognition a business student can receive in a program accredited by AACSB International. The society's mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in business studies and to cultivate leadership and professional excellence among its lifelong members.
