MSU communications hosting two faculty-directed film screenings
Two Department of Communication, Media, Art & Design faculty members will see their films on the big screen on Nov. 7.
Films by Senior Instructor of Mass Communication Steven Middleton and Lecturer/Studio Supervisor Matthew Kistenmacher will screen at 6:30 p.m. in Breckinridge Hall 002.
The event features "My Mountain Fiend," the story of the career of local wrestling legend and Middleton's friend Jonathan R. Wise (Class of 2006), a.k.a. JR Roc.
Middleton's documentary has seen great success, screening at the 2024 Big Sandy Film Festival and the 2024 Louisville International Film Festival.
Also featured is a sneak peek into Kistenmacher’s film “Oscillate is Dead.”
The film is set in 1983’s Lexington and tells the story of a disgraced police officer covering up a thoroughbred murder while an injured jockey reimagines his failed prom as he lies dying on the track.
The entire film is set to premiere in January 2025.
Each director will host a Q&A session at the end of each film.
