MSU to Support Upcoming IM-2 Lunar Mission Launch
Morehead State University (MSU) will play a critical role in Intuitive Machines’ upcoming IM-2 lunar mission, which is targeted for a multi-day launch window that begins no earlier than Feb. 26.
As a key provider of tracking and communication services, MSU will once again support lunar exploration efforts through its Space Science Center, which serves as both a NASA Deep Space Network (DSN) site and a Lunar Data Network station for Intuitive Machines.
The University contributed to the success of Intuitive Machines’ IM-1 mission, which carried the Odysseus Nova-C lunar lander to the Moon’s south pole region in February 2024.
MSU students, faculty, and staff were essential in monitoring and guiding the mission, reinforcing the University’s standing in space science and deep space communications.
