Eagle students showcase research at Posters-at-the-Capitol
Morehead State University undergraduate students proudly presented their research to the governor and state legislators at Posters-at-the-Capitol on Thursday, March 6, at the State Capitol in Frankfort.
Posters-at-the-Capitol is an event hosted collaboratively among eight higher education institutions: Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky Community and Technical College System, Kentucky State University, Morehead State University, Murray State University, Northern Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, and Western Kentucky University. It allows undergraduate students to engage in scholarship, research, and creative work important to their educational experience and professional development.
MSU had 12 research posters at the event, including contributions from The Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. This year's Posters-at-the-Capitol also featured Lightning Talks, where each participating institution presented one poster in the Rotunda in front of an audience. Chase Morgan, a computer engineering major from Ashland, was Morehead State's presenter. Alexis Mathews, coordinator of undergraduate research, said MSU also had 20 abstract submissions this year.
“This event highlights the impact of undergraduate research while giving students a platform to present their work, engage with policymakers, and advocate for the value of higher education and research,” Matthews said. “Each university involved is only allowed 12 posters, but I wish we could take all the students who submit abstracts. All the work they’re doing is incredibly important.”
