Tim Griffith Scholarship announced
The MSU Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of the Tim Griffith Scholarship Endowment, a fund to benefit Morehead State students.
Tim Griffith (Class of 1971) grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1966. He attended the University of Kentucky for one year before entering the workforce, joining R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He later decided to return to college and enrolled at Morehead State, partially due to the encouragement of his father, a relative of then-MSU First Lady Mignon Doran.
Griffith was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration, he began working as a state accountant in Houston, Texas, where he met his wife, Irene, and started a family.
Griffith worked as a sales representative for Uarco Business and later McGraw Printing Corporation before starting his own business, Paperflow, Inc., in 1996. He retired in 2013 but worked as a bookkeeper for his wife's business, PSI Technology.
Griffith maintained ties with many MSU faculty and alumni while keeping up with the University's progress. He was a member of the MSU Alumni Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023.
Irene surprised Tim by establishing the Tim Griffith Scholarship Endowment in honor of his 75th birthday. MSU recognized Tim for his scholarship at an MSU basketball game in February.
"Getting to work with Irene on the creation of this scholarship for Tim was such an honor," said Allison Caudill (Class of 2005, 2009), vice president for University Advancement. "Tim's MSU pride runs deep, and the fact that Irene chose to recognize that in this way is so special."
