MSU Board of Regents approves tuition, honors student
The Morehead State University Board of Regents met Friday at MSU at Prestonsburg to review financial updates, approve key institutional actions and recognize student achievement.
The meeting opened with remarks from Todd Brand, president of Big Sandy Community & Technical College, followed by recognition of Victoria Daniels, a junior majoring in early elementary education at MSU in Prestonsburg. Deirdra Robinson, assistant professor of social work and BSW campus facilitator for MSU at Prestonsburg, was also recognized.
As part of the consent agenda, the board approved several routine and academic items, including ratification of winter graduates, new academic certificates, faculty tenure and promotion recommendations, updates to Student Government Association and Staff Congress bylaws, asset preservation projects and coaching contract extensions.
The board also approved financial and strategic measures to support continued operations and growth, including quarterly financial reports and an amended operating budget.
Among the meeting’s key actions, the board approved the 2026–27 tuition, housing and fee schedule, as well as the acquisition of university land and disposal of property. Regents also approved naming the University’s new residence hall Martin Hall in honor of alumnus, former basketball coach and regent Wayne Martin (Class of 1968, 1972) and designated the Central Bank Lobby within the facility.
In his report, MSU President Dr. Jay Morgan provided a legislative update, outlining ongoing developments affecting higher education in Kentucky as well as campus construction updates.
The board entered a closed executive session to discuss matters related to real estate, as permitted under Kentucky law. No action was taken during the closed session.
