Morehead State Chemistry Club to host industry seminar

The Morehead State University Chemistry Club, in partnership with the Lexington Section of the American Chemical Society, will host a special seminar highlighting research and career opportunities in Kentucky’s growing spirits industry.

“This seminar is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the research going on in Kentucky related to the Spirits industry, as well as new economic opportunities not just in Kentucky but right here in Rowan County,” said Dr. Mark Blankenbuehler, associate professor of biology and chemistry.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 8, at the ADUC Theater. Light refreshments will be served at 5 p.m., followed by the seminar at 5:30 p.m.

Featured speakers include Dr. Brad Berron, chemical engineering research director at the James B. Beam Institute for Kentucky Spirits, and Caleb Kilburn (Class of 2014), master distiller and co-founder of Eastern Light Distilling.

The speakers will share insights into the science, innovation and economic impact of the spirits industry in Kentucky. The seminar is free and open to students, faculty and the community.
