Morehead State's Allie Bush selected for BRIGHT Kentucky Leadership Program
A proud Morehead State University alum and staff member was selected for one of the state's notable leadership programs.
Allie Bush (Class of 2022), assistant director for annual giving in the Office of Alumni Relations & Development at MSU, has been selected to participate in the BRIGHT Kentucky Leadership Program. This competitive leadership initiative prepares emerging leaders to address challenges facing communities across the Commonwealth.
Bush was selected through a competitive application process that recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential, a commitment to community engagement, and a desire to make a lasting impact throughout Kentucky.
Bush earned a bachelor's degree in political science and history before joining the University's Office of Alumni Relations and Development. In her current role as assistant director for annual giving, she works to strengthen relationships between the University and its alumni while supporting philanthropic initiatives that enhance student success and institutional excellence.
"I'm honored to have been selected for the BRIGHT Kentucky Leadership Program. I've been eyeing this program for a while, and I'm so glad I took the leap to apply," Bush said. "The people of Eastern Kentucky are resilient, and each leader represented in this cohort is an example of growth, from Hazard to Morehead to Ashland and countless communities in between. There are some pretty amazing things happening through nonprofit work, education, municipal government, healthcare, and many other industries. It's inspiring, and it makes me proud to call Morehead and Eastern Kentucky home."
Through her graduate studies in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, she is expanding her expertise in public leadership, nonprofit management, organizational effectiveness, and community engagement. Dr. James R. Masterson, director of MSU's public administration program, said Bush exemplifies the qualities the program seeks to cultivate in future public leaders while reflecting her dedication to lifelong learning, servant leadership, and strengthening the communities of Eastern Kentucky through collaboration and public service.
"Allie represents everything we aspire for our MPA students to achieve: strong leadership skills, the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to the common good through public service," Masterson said. "She is, without a doubt, a rising star, and I know she will shine brightly in the BRIGHT Kentucky Leadership Program, and throughout all her future endeavors."
The BRIGHT Kentucky Leadership Program brings together emerging leaders from across the Commonwealth to strengthen leadership skills, foster cross-sector collaboration, and develop innovative approaches to addressing the challenges facing Kentucky's communities. Participants engage in leadership development experiences while building relationships with professionals representing nonprofit organizations, higher education, municipal government, healthcare, business, and other sectors.
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at Morehead State University prepares current and aspiring public service leaders through a curriculum grounded in leadership, public management, policy analysis, nonprofit administration, and organizational effectiveness. The NASPAA-accredited program equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation to lead in government, nonprofit organizations, healthcare, higher education, and other public-serving institutions. Through applied learning, personalized faculty mentorship, and strong connections to communities across the Commonwealth, the MPA program develops professionals committed to advancing the public good.
