Opening Day Information

Before You Arrive to Campus

  1. Please submit a headshot to Morehead State University to facilitate the printing of your EagleCard ID. This photo will also be used in the GSP "Mug Book," which is printed and distributed at the end of the summer. Submitting early will significantly speed up your check-in process. To upload your photo, please submit the required online form as soon as possible, by visiting Your EagleCard ID will be available for pick-up when you arrive to campus.
  2. Please inform us of any dietary or nutrition restrictions or needs that you may have by completing this form. We work closely with Morehead dining services to accommodate specific needs and try our best to make these arrangements prior to your arrival on campus. If you do not have any specific dietary needs, you do not need to complete the form.

The curriculum provides opportunities to develop both general and specific intellectual skills and talents through student participation in the following:

Focus Area

Courses that will allow a student to pursue a topic in-depth as a member of a small group stressing the development of ideas in the chosen discipline, with the option of additional independent study. Focus Areas meet daily for one and a half to two hours. For a complete listing of Focus Areas offered, see the GSP website.

General Studies

Classes the emphasize inquiry, service-learning, community leadership, and resolution development.


This seminar, co-led by a Resident Advisor and by a faculty member, meets daily for one and a half to two hours. It stresses issues of personal development faced by scholars, including values, interpersonal relationships, career choices, and maximizing the value of their senior year in high school.

Arrival Times - Saturday, June 26, 2021

**Please plan to arrive as close to your arrival time as possible to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Last names starting with:

D – J 9:00 a.m.
K – Ra 10:00 a.m.
Re – Z 11:00 a.m.
A – C 1:00 p.m.


Check-In Process 

Families should park in the parking garage of the Rocky Adkins Dining Commons (see map), where they will meet GSP-Morehead staff to complete the check-in process, receive information about their living arrangements, and obtain campus maps with driving directions for move-in. We ask that each scholar be accompanied by only one family member.

Move-In Process

After check-in, you may move your vehicle to the Mignon complex for unloading and move-in. Scholars will be greeted on their hall by their Resident Advisor, who will provide their keys and ID. Two family members at a time may accompany the scholar to move into their residence hall. We ask that you also wear a face mask inside their residence hall.


Lunch will not be available on campus for scholars and their families. There are numerous dining and shopping options close to the Morehead State University campus. You can explore area dining options at

Please note that GSP merchandise will not be sold during check-in. Families and scholars wishing to purchase GSP items may do so at our online store, the link to which is located at or by calling our Frankfort office at (502) 209-4420. Opportunities will also be available during the summer for scholars to purchase mementos on campus.

Family Day

Saturday, July 10th, is the day we set aside for parents and family members to visit the campus, see their children, and go off campus for the day. Scholars may leave campus with their families from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. that day if they wish. Requests to keep scholars overnight (either Friday or Saturday evening) will not be honored.

Closing Day

We will update the information about Closing Day (Friday, July 30th) as we get closer to the date. We hope to have an in-person ceremony that morning, if conditions allow. Please continue to follow the GSP-Morehead website ( for updates.
