Comp. Tomography & Magnetic Res.

The computed tomography/magnetic resonance (CTMR) program has a selective admission policy in addition to the University's admission procedure. Admission to Morehead State University does not guarantee admission to the CTMR program. The number of clinical placement positions limits enrollment. Should the number of qualified applicants exceed the enrollment capacity, the successful applicants with the highest grade point average in the required general education courses, support courses, and radiography courses will be selected.

1. The first step is admission to Morehead State University, see MSU admission requirements.
2. Completion of the following courses with a minimum grade of "C." (Some courses can be transferred from other institutions.)
   • BIOL 234* - Principles of Human Anatomy and Physiology I (NSC I exchange course), three hours.
   • BIOL 235* - Principles of Human Anatomy and Physiology II, three hours.
   • COMS 108 - Fundamentals of Speech Communication, three hours.
   • ENG 100 - Writing I, three hours.
   • ENG 200 - Writing II, three hours.
   • MATH 152 - College Algebra, three hours.
   • IMS/NURS 202 - Medical Terminology, two hours.
   • Natural Science
   • Social and Behavioral Science
   • Arts and Humanities
   • Level III-The Human Community
   • HUM-Global Cultures
   • SBS-Ethics and Social Justice
   • NSC- Science and Technology in Society
   • FYS 101 - First Year Seminar, three hours.

Total General Education & Support Courses - 41 Credit Hours
*If BIOL 244 & 244A and 245 & 245A are taken, it will increase total degree hours by 2.

Note: If a student did not take an FYS 101 course, they must take an additional 3 hours in SBS.

1. More than two failures of pre-radiologic science courses within two complete academic years will result in ineligibility for admission. This includes failure of more than two courses or failures of the same course more than twice. Students with course failure(s) prior to two complete academic years will be considered for admission if the student has demonstrated satisfactory academic progress ("C" or above in required courses) since the course failure(s).
2. A grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher for all required college work.
3. Graduates of the radiologic science program at MSU or other radiography programs accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT). Considerations for non-JRCERT program graduates will be considered on an individual or program basis. Graduates of an approved program may receive an equivalent block credit to satisfy the radiography component.
4. Registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography. Applicants who are not registered must obtain certification prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
5. Meet health and physical capability requirements established by the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Imaging Sciences.
6. Possess current certification in basic life support for health care providers (CPR) by the American Heart Association.

Applications will be accepted beginning in January and must be received by the 1st Monday in April.

The application deadline has been extended until June 3 or until the class has been filled.

Submit a complete application packet with the following required materials:

1.  Official transcripts documenting all courses required for admission. Students currently enrolled are required to submit spring mid-term grades for consideration. Students attending institutions that do not provide mid-term grades must submit a letter from the radiography program coordinator or individual faculty in general education courses stating the student's letter grade at the current time for each course. All letters must be submitted on official institutional letterhead. Students must complete required courses with a "C" or better and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
2. Copy of course description(s) if course equivalencies are not listed on the transfer credit webpage.
3.  Copy of the current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration card for radiography. Applicants who are not registered must obtain certification prior to the beginning of the summer II term.
4. Applicants have the opportunity to select the alternative learning option of attending all didactic courses via distance learning. Students interested in this option should contact program officials for more information at b.hughes@moreheadstate.edu.

*No additional fees are assessed for students attending via distance learning.

NOTE: CT/MR students must have an annual flu vaccination and full COVID-19 vaccinations with boosters as required.

All examinations, quizzes, campus laboratory evaluations, and clinical evaluation grades are carried out to two decimal points in program courses. The percentage point grading scale for all specific computed tomography/magnetic resonance courses is as follows:

• A = 92% - 100.0%
• B = 84% - 91.0%
• C = 76% - 83.0%
• D = 68% - 75.0%
• E = Below- 67.0%
