Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)

Morehead State is Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) affiliated. DANTES is a DoD organization created to help service members pursue their educational goals and earn degrees or certifications while continuing to serve their country. MSU delivers classes several ways: in a traditional classroom setting, at one of our five regional campuses in eastern Kentucky, or online via DANTES.

Online Degree Opportunities

Have an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) or an Associate in Arts (AA) degree and want to complete a bachelor's degree? Morehead State offers many online completer degree programs, allowing you to continue to fulfill professional and family commitments.

Tuition Assistance

The Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) program pays the cost of tuition and some additional fees. Virtually all active duty military service members are eligible for FTA, however, each service branch determines its criteria for eligibility. Federal Tuition Assistance covers up to 100% Tuition and Fees, not to exceed $250.00 per semester credit hour or $4500.00 per fiscal year. Additionally, the Navy has a 16 credit hour annual limit.

All Active Duty Service Members (including Guard and Reserve) must contact their Education Service Officer (ESO) or Education Counselor within your branch of service prior to enrolling in any college or university.

Deployments and Extended Absences Due to Military Service

In continuing efforts to reaffirm our status as a military-friendly institution, Morehead State University permits special accommodations to students who are disenrolled from the university for an extended absence, or decline an offer of admission, due to military service. If you are deployed or have military orders that take you away from your classes for an extended period of time, you will not incur an academic penalty per the University’s policy on deployments.
