What You’ll Learn in the ESL Endorsement Program
You’ll learn how to instruct students whose first language is not English. You’ll learn to describe the English language system and apply knowledge for instructional purposes, and how to adapt instruction to English language learners' academic needs and linguistic backgrounds.
What You Can Do with an ESL Endorsement
You will be prepared for a career teaching non-native English speakers at all grade levels.
Admission to the ESL endorsement program
You must be admitted for graduate study at MSU.
Additional Admission Requirements
- General admission to graduate study.
- An acceptable admission index by meeting any of the following:
- GRE score (verbal + quantitative) x undergraduate GPA = 850 (minimum)
- Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scaled score * undergraduate GPA = 980 (minimum)
The test requirement is waived for candidates who have successfully completed a master's degree.
- A teaching certificate or statement of eligibility.
