Governor's Scholars

Welcome to the Governor’s Scholars Program at Morehead State 2025!

MSU is a proud partner and host of the Governor’s Scholar Program (GSP), which has been hosted at MSU since 2006. The event brings hundreds of students to campus for a living-learning experience.

About GSP

The Governor's Scholars Program strives to enhance Kentucky's next generation of civic and economic leaders. Established in 1983, the program provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Students must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge.

GSP Scholarships at Morehead State

Morehead State offers two scholarships for alumni of the Governor’s Scholars Program, the Governor’s School for the Arts, and the Governor's School for Entrepreneurs.

The Governor’s Award is worth $32,000 ($8,000 annually for four years of study) for students with a 23 ACT and 3.5 GPA. The Governor’s Award+ is $40,000 ($10,000 annually) for students with a 25 ACT and 3.5 GPA. The Governor’s Awards cannot be stacked on top of other general merit scholarships, but we encourage scholars to explore other opportunities with MSU Foundation scholarships.
