Through the Craft Academy experience, you will complete a high school diploma and earn a minimum of 60 college credit hours, including math, science and English core courses, STEM electives and +X courses. All courses are taught by MSU professors.

  • Math core = three courses
  • Science core = four courses
  • English core = two courses
  • STEM Electives = three courses
  • +X core = three courses
  • +X electives + three courses
  • General elective = one course
Note: Students are required to enroll in at least 15 credit hours per semester. Credit hours may vary by course.


The STEM+X curriculum is a special feature of the Craft Academy that broadens and enriches your educational experience. The +X component takes your STEM career interests to a higher level by engaging you to explore how your STEM knowledge is impacted by and can impact technology, business and industry, entrepreneurship, innovation and design and the medical field. You will explore how your thinking and creative talents can be used to imagine and invent. You will learn how to creatively solve problems that impact your community while developing leadership skills and talents.

Many courses will incorporate experiential and project-based learning opportunities that involve student collaboration with faculty members and partners in research.
