EAP Eligibility Requirements

 

In order to apply for the EAP program, you must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled at Morehead State University.
  2. A current US Citizen or lawful permanent resident
  3. Current Sophomore standing and anticipated college graduation within 3-4 additional full-time semesters.
  4. Five full-semester science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics) lecture courses, as laid out by the AAMC BCPM course classification. Classes must be completed by the Fall semester prior to the EAP application deadline. Dual Credit and AP courses are accepted, if the AP course is accepted for credit at the student's undergraduate institution, laboratory courses do not count.
  5. Two full-semester courses involving critical writing, synthesis of scholarship, and oral presentations/speaking skills, no specific prefix designation (e.g., ENG prefix, upper-level seminars, humanities courses, or a 500-level foreign language course if the language is other than your primary language). Classes must be completed by the Fall semester prior to the EAP application deadline. Dual Credit and AP courses are accepted, if the AP course is accepted for credit at the student's undergraduate institution.
  6. Unweighted cumulative college GPA of at least 3.6. Transcripts submitted must have grades for the Fall semester of the application year. This includes all classes at the collegiate level (including dual credit courses completed in high school and/or classes completed at prior institutions, including community college courses). All classes factor into Cumulative GPA. This includes the original grade on a class that may have been retaken.
  7. Unweighted cumulative college science (biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics) GPA of at least 3.6. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and/or Mathematics courses (or BCPM for short) must fall within the AAMC classification. Link to BCMP course classification. Transcripts submitted must have grades for the Fall semester of the application year. This includes all classes at the collegiate level (including dual credit courses completed in high school and/or classes completed at prior institutions, including community college courses). All classes factor into Cumulative BCPM GPA. This includes the original grade on a class that may have been retaken.
  8. Commitment to participate in all Early Assurance Program Activities. 

Eligibility Requirements for Direct Admission to the UK College of Medicine Rural Physician Leadership Program

In order to be eligible for direct admission to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Rural Physician Leadership Program, you must meet the following requirements for assured admission:

  • Fulfill the prerequisite course requirements to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
  • Maintain a collegiate GPA of 3.5 or higher in both science coursework and in cumulative GPA at Morehead State University.
  • Record an MCAT total score at the 65th percentile or higher, with no subscale score below the 50th percentile.
  • Participate in all Early Assurance Program components.
  • Submit an AMCAS application to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Rural Physician Leadership Program by Aug. 1, applying Early Decision to the RPLP program.
  • Obtain a supportive letter of evaluation from the MSU Pre-Medical Advisory Committee.
  • Complete a satisfactory interview for admission to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Rural Physician Leadership Program.
