Space-Tracking Antennas
The Space Science Center's Space Mission Operations Center is a control center used to remotely operate the satellite Earth station ground assets run by the Center.
These Earth stations include:
- 21-M Space-Tracking Antenna
- 13-M antenna system
- 24 ft. antenna system
- UHF/VHF antenna systems
The Earth stations are utilized for satellite mission support and research in radio frequency astrophysics (particularly the 21-M antenna system.) These systems are remotely operated from the center, which schedules satellite passes, acquires telemetry from satellites, and operates the 21-M in radio telescope mode.
The Space Mission Operations Center is a hub of activity during satellite passes and during the launch and early operational phase of space missions supported by the Center.
