Eagle Diversity and Inclusion Team

The Eagle Diversity and Inclusion Team (EDIT) serves as an advisory group to the President and Vice Presidents in an attempt to ensure the accomplishment of the University vision, mission and core values. The duties and responsibilities of the EDIT include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Advising and providing recommendations to the President on issues, best practices, and professional development that impact the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  2. Collaborating with the Affirmative Action Officer to make recommendations on policies, procedures, and the implementation of the University’s affirmative action and diversity plans.
  3. Serving in a consultative role to the various University department’s and units for proposed diversity-related initiatives to enhance the academic success and intellectual growth of students, faculty, staff and the greater Rowan County community.
  4. Regular reporting to various constituency groups, including but not limited to the President’s Senior Cabinet, President's Leadership Council, Staff Congress, Faculty Senate, Board of Regents, and Student Government Association.

CAMPUS CLIMATE SURVEY

Charge: Create/administer the campus climate survey in 2020 and analyze results for immediate, short-term, and long-term recommendations/action steps to submit to senior leadership.

CAMPUS DISPLAYS OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Charge: Create displays in various campus settings that promote inclusion, diversity, cultural competence, and the diversity plan action steps in ways that motivate the community to engage in implementing the actions.

EMPLOYEE RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION

Charge: Continue using strategic recruitment and retention strategies to increase the representation of diverse faculty, professional staff and administrators through strategic recruitment and retention efforts.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY AND INCLUSIVE EXCELLENCE

Charge: Explore contracting with an agency specializing in multicultural work to conduct a training of trainers, which will result in a team of faculty, staff and students who are prepared to facilitate discussions related to cultural competence and inclusive excellence throughout MSU’s campus.

CRAFT ACADEMY RECRUITMENT

Charge: Identify and implement recruitment strategies that result in increased diversity of Craft Academy applicants.

LIBRARY MULTICULTURAL COLLECTION

Charge: Identify and implement strategies that increase access to diverse and inclusive resources at the Camden-Carroll Library.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION GRANTS

Charge: Assist in the acquisition and distribution of grant funding for diverse/inclusive academic programming.
