Social Work
Social work is a profession for those who find fulfillment and reward in making a difference in the everyday lives of individuals. MSU's Bachelor of Social Work program (BSW) is a community of social work teachers, scholars and learners dedicated to strengthening and enhancing individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. We promote academic excellence, student success and community engagement with evidence-based practice to prepare our students for generalist practice. The BSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), a national professional social work education standard-setting body.
You can complete a BSW on any of MSU's four campuses: Mt. Sterling, Morehead, Ashland or Prestonsburg. The curriculum is delivered through a mix of face-to-face and online courses. The Mt. Sterling and Prestonsburg campuses offer classes one day a week. The Ashland and Morehead campuses typically offer classes two days a week. These options allow for flexibility in schedule and classroom interaction with professors and other students. Our model ensures that students can practice the profession and process their learning experience with guidance and interaction from professors and fellow students.
