Pre-College Curriculum Requirements
If you have not been declared exempt, you must complete any pre-college curriculum requirements before you have completed 24 college credit hours. The requirements are based on your high school transcript, not your ACT score.
EXEMPTION
The following students are exempt from PCC requirements:
- Students who are 21 or older at the time of application
- Out-of-State students
- International students
- Students who meet the ACT or SAT exemption score for PCC requirements
- Students who intend to earn an Associate Degree
- Active duty military personnel, their spouses and dependents
ENGLISH
The following courses are required for students with a PCC requirement in English:

MATHEMATICS
The following courses are required for students with a PCC requirement in English:

*An ACT score below 19 indicates a PCC requirement of MATH 090, unless the student needs MATH 141 or 152, in which case they must take MATH 091. ** An ACT score of 19 indicates that a student requiring MATH 141 or 152 must take MATH 093.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Two credits are required in the same language or demonstrated competency. The PCC requirement cannot be remediated with one credit from two different languages. The languages must be the same and follow the appropriate sequence.
SCIENCE
There are no ACT or SAT scores for placement in this requirement. An ACT Science subscore of 23 or higher exempts students from this requirement. Students with a PCC requirement in Science must take one of the following courses:
- SCI 104
- BIOL 105
- GEO/ESS 101
SOCIAL SCIENCE
There are no ACT or SAT scores for placement in this requirement. An ACT Reading subscore of 22 or higher exempts students from this requirement. Students with a PCC requirement in Social Science must take one of the following courses:
- HIS 102
- SOC 101
- GOVT 141
HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION
There are no ACT or SAT scores for placement in this requirement. Students with a PCC requirement in Health & Physical Education must take one of the following courses:
- HLTH 151
- PHED 205
- NUTR 101
VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS
There are no ACT or SAT scores for placement or exemption of this requirement. Students with a PCC requirement in Visual & Performing Arts must take one of the following courses:
- ART 160
- THEA 110
- MUSH 261
- FILM 170
