Energy Conservation
Energy Performance
MSU has an energy performance contract with Siemens to install energy-saving controls and software to reduce energy consumption and costs across campus. The software package allows us to track energy usage in real-time in all residence halls and most of the campus administration and classroom buildings and allows remote control of thermostats, lighting, air handlers and some chillers.
Occupancy Sensors
Occupancy sensors are installed in most buildings, reducing the amount of light consumption energy. All new construction has incorporated energy-saving features such as daylighting to reduce light energy consumption.
Natural Gas
MSU switched from coal-fired to natural gas at our boiler plant in 2012, reducing our carbon footprint and helping to provide better air quality in the surrounding area.
