Resolution on Resigning from a University Standing & Advisory Committee
University Standing Committee service is the responsibility of all faculty at this institution. Faculty may not serve on more than two University Standing Committees at any given time. Inclination, or refusal, to serve on a committee is usually declared in the Faculty University Standing Committee Preference Form distributed to faculty in the spring semester.
Resigning from a University Standing Committee should be seriously considered before faculty tender a resignation.
Be it resolved that the procedure for resignation from a University Standing Committee is written notification to the University Standing Committee chairperson, Faculty Senate secretary, and the faculty member’s Department Chair. In the absence of a University Standing Committee Chairperson, the notification may be sent to the Faculty Senate secretary and the faculty member’s Department Chair.
The Faculty Senate also appoints faculty representatives to, receives reports from, and maintains the descriptions of University Standing & Advisory Committees.
