EAP PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Once you are accepted into the Early Assurance Program, you will participate in special activities to prepare you for medical school. Activities will take place at the beginning of the summer before your junior year of undergraduate study at MSU. Activities are designed to guide you through the process of applying to medical school and taking the MCAT, improve your interview skills and introduce you to community service or research project development opportunities.
Below is a timeline of special activities offered to EAP students:
Summer Before Junior Year
- Shadowing with local physicians
- Community service activities
- Attending M1 White Coat Ceremony in Lexington
Junior Year – Fall Semester
- Medical student peer group meetings
- Monthly meetings – UK RPLP
- Dinner with local clinicians – Northeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center (NEAHEC)/UK RPLP
Winter Break
- Mock MCAT – NEAHEC
Junior Year – Spring Semester
- Medical student peer group meetings
- Monthly meetings – UK RPLP
- Dinner with local clinicians – NE AHEC/UK RPLP
- Etiquette dinner – MSU Career Center
Summer Before Senior Year
- Boot Camp – UK RPLP
- Shadowing and community service continued – NE AHEC
- Invite to local UK RPLP meetings
Senior Year
- Community/Research Project Orientation
- Medical school curriculum preparation
- Monthly meetings – UK RPLP
- Dinner with local clinicians – NE AHEC/UK RPLP
