INSTITUTIONAL ANIMAL CARE AND USE COMMITTEE
Morehead State University's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is a federally mandated committee made up of faculty, staff and persons unaffiliated with the University charged with ensuring that the institution complies with federal policies safeguarding animals as subjects in research, testing and teaching.
All research, teaching and/or testing conducted at MSU involving animal subjects must be reviewed and approved by the IACUC.
Revision Date: Advisory Committee is mandated by the Public Health Service (PHS) Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Last revision November 3, 2022.
Membership
- IACUC members' terms are three-year terms
- Chairs of the IACUC are elected by the members to serve 1-year terms
- There are no term limits
- We desire members to remain on the committees for continuity and expertise – therefore, when a member's term is complete, they are usually asked to serve another term if willing.

- Aug. 7, 2023 - Protocols received after Aug. 7 will be reviewed at the September meeting.
- Sept. 5, 2023 - Protocols received after Sept. 5 will be reviewed at the October meeting.
- Oct. 2, 2023 - Protocols received after Oct. 2 will be reviewed at the November meeting.
- Nov. 6, 2023 - Protocols received after November 6 will be reviewed at the December meeting.
- Dec. 4, 2023 – Protocols received after December 4 will be reviewed at the January meeting.
- Jan. 8, 2024 – Protocols received after January 8 will be reviewed at the February meeting.
- Feb. 5, 2024 – Protocols received after February 5 will be reviewed at the March meeting.
- March 4, 2024 – Protocols received after March 4 will be reviewed at the April meeting.
- April 1, 2024- Protocols received after April 1 will be reviewed at the May meeting.
- May 6, 2024 – Protocols received after May 6 will be reviewed at the August meeting.
