Eagle Scholars FAQ
If you have questions about taking dual-credit courses, this FAQ can help. Don't hesitate to contact us at ecp@moreheadstate.edu if you need assistance.
Dual-credit Benefits:
- Students are better prepared for the rigor of college classes.
- A waived application fee and priority access to scholarship awards, orientation, and housing assignments through early admission.
- Save money by taking courses now rather than at a higher cost later.
- Helps students decide on a major/program of study.
- Access to campus resources.
- Courses taken as part of general education requirements count toward a degree at Morehead State University and are accepted by any public Kentucky university per Kentucky's General Education Transfer Policy.
Things to Consider:
- Not all colleges accept dual credit.
- Final grades are on your permanent high school and college academic record.
You'll need to meet specific requirements and complete MSU's online application to apply.
You can choose courses that you're interested in and courses to prepare you for your major. Students are advised to talk with an academic advisor to determine the best courses to take.
We recommend that students consider courses in MSU's general education program. General education courses are foundational courses that meet degree requirements for every major offered at MSU.
Some college courses have prerequisites. These are requirements that a student must complete before registering for a specific course to help ensure student success. A specified ACT composite or subscore, a placement test score, or completion of a specified prerequisite course can meet these requirements—the course descriptions in the University Catalog list these prerequisites. Visit the MSU Testing Center to learn more about placement scores and testing.
