COVID-19 GUIDANCE
MSU is committed to the safety and health of students and employees. The Public Health Emergency expired on May 11, 2023. MSU’s response to COVID-19 shall follow the same protocols as the response to other viral infections (e.g. influenza).
- If positive for COVID-19, students, faculty, and staff should continue to follow the CDC guidelines.
- Students: Requests for an excused absence shall follow the “Illness or Injury of Student” protocols in UAR 131 - Excused Absence Policy.
- Acceptable documentation for an excused absence includes:
- Written recommendation from a healthcare provider (e.g., doctor’s note).
- Dates of absence should be listed on the provider’s recommendation.
- Written recommendation from a healthcare provider (e.g., doctor’s note).
- COVID-19 test results from a provider, lab, or pharmacy (no home tests).When submitting the test results, students should include the date of the onset of symptoms.
- If approved, the excuse will cover 5 days from the onset of symptoms or a positive test, whichever is earlier.
- Acceptable documentation for an excused absence includes:
- Faculty & Staff: Employees should follow the guidance in PG-49: Sick Leave and utilize paid sick leave for COVID-related illnesses. The employee is responsible for notifying his/her supervisor within a reasonable period of time prior to the start of the scheduled work period in which the absence is to occur.
