LGBTQ SUPPORT
Student Success is at the core of all we do at Morehead State University, and we believe that a diverse and inclusive campus plays a significant role in guaranteeing this success. Diversity, as a concept, describes an inclusive community of people with varied human characteristics, ideas and world views related, but not limited to, to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, religion, color, creed, national origin, disabilities, socio-economic status, life experiences, geographical region or ancestry. Inclusion recognizes the creation of a safe, supportive and nurturing environment by MSU that honors and respects those differences.
Morehead State University is a welcoming community for students, faculty and staff that identify as LGBTQ as well as allies and advocates for the community. We recognize and support the identities of our faculty, staff and students on their own terms specifically in terms of expression and identity.
To support and provide help to anyone that needs it, we have compiled a list of resources available on campus, in the community as well as beyond MSU and the Morehead community.
Counseling and Health Services offers counseling to MSU students at no cost to the student and has a counselor on staff that is trained to work with the LGBTQ community to help assist with any issues students may have while at MSU. To make an appointment and for more information please visit the Counseling and Health Services website.
Camden-Carroll Library offers support and resources for anyone interested in reading about, researching or learning about the LGBTQ community. For more information please visit the library's research guide. This guide is to help the LGBTQ community access library resources and physical resources on campus and to show support.
SAFE ZONE TRAINING
Safe Zone Training creates ongoing educational experiences between Safe Zone trained individuals and the MSU community, encouraging students, faculty and staff to explore cultural identities, values and stereotypes in order to better understand how these issues impact the greater community.
