We strive to provide a variety of activities to engage our members and promote a healthy lifestyle. Aquatics is a healthy activity that can benefit the body and the mind. By engaging in an aquatics workout, your body develops general strength, cardiovascular fitness and endurance. Swimming is an excellent alternative to high-impact exercises that can be stressful on your joints. If you're looking for a more rigorous aquatic workout, swim against the current of the natatorium's vortex feature. Visit the aquatics page for information on party reservations, lifeguard certification and more.
Group Fitness Studio
Our comprehensive and customized approach helps you make healthy decisions to benefit you now and long into the future. With classes including yoga, cycling, kickboxing, and services including personal training with wellness assessment, the Recreation and Wellness Center is the place to achieve your goals for total body fitness. Your health is more than the physical condition of your body. When one area gets out of balance, it usually affects the other aspects of your life. Our wellness services are created to help you assess your current fitness and wellness level and achieve a healthy, well-balanced life. Visit the group fitness page for current schedules.
Gymnasium & Racquetball Court
Our gymnasium houses three full-size basketball courts with more than enough space for you to enjoy a game of volleyball or badminton while other students shoot hoops. The courts are prioritized for informal recreation and intramural sports, so there's always an area free. Self-contained racquetball courts are available adjacent to the gym floor, and reservations may be made one day in advance. Review our facilities policies for more information.
Indoor Walking Track, Game Room & Lounge
Recreation and Wellness Center houses a multilane, indoor walking track. The track is surrounded by cardio equipment and stretching areas overlooking the gymnasium. Enjoy our lounge and game room once you've worked up a sweat. A big screen television and game tables are provided so friends can meet up after a workout or for fun. Review our facilities policies for more information.
Intramural Sports
The intramural program provides a variety of recreational opportunities for the MSU community. Individual/dual activities include badminton, tennis, golf, racquetball, basketball skills competition (spot shot, three-point, free throw), corn toss, table tennis, bowling and swimming. Team sports such as softball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, bowling, golf, tug-of-war, beach volleyball, swimming, wallyball, dodgeball, wiffleball and ultimate Frisbee are offered during the appropriate season. Informal (' drop in') recreational opportunities such as racquetball, basketball, volleyball and game tables are available whenever the Recreation and Wellness Center is open for business.
