Diversity Student Organizations

MSU offers a variety of student engagement opportunities.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Fraternities and Sororities are African American (Black) Greek-lettered organizations whose goals are to foster brotherhood and sisterhood in the pursuit of social change through social program development.

Women's Virtue is a female empowerment group built to encourage, educate, and support women of all ages and backgrounds. The organization inspires women to give back to their own communities through mentorship, networking, and volunteerism.

R.E.A.L. M.E.N. is a group dedicated to Multicultural men working to create an inclusive brotherhood centered around becoming strong leaders and having a positive impact in our community.

Amigos Unidos is a group that embraces diversity and works together to recognize, celebrate, and spread awareness of Hispanic culture.

The Black Student Union is a multicultural organization on campus at Morehead State University focused on promoting peace, equality, and social change. The Black Student Union aims to offer the community opportunities for both cultural enrichment and intellectual growth through educational, social, and political programming. BSU hopes to develop and maintain an expansive network and platform that not only empowers our community but also promotes solidarity within and beyond the gates of Morehead State University.

Evergreen is devoted to changing the environmental and societal paradigm at Morehead State University, the community, and beyond through sustainability, alliance, service, and education. Evergreen strives to configure problem-solving skills to combat environmental challenges while concomitantly strengthening public awareness of the social barriers our world faces today.

The Black Gospel Ensemble is a non-auditioned chorus that has been a vital part of the MSU community since 1968. Specializing in the performance of Gospel Music, Negro Spirituals, and Contemporary Praise & Worship, this group’s schedule typically includes churches, public schools, campus events, civic organizations, and an annual tour. Past tour destinations have included Nashville, Chicago, St. Louis, Knoxville, Indianapolis, and an international trip to Costa Rica. New members are accepted during the first two weeks of the fall and spring semesters. Black Gospel Ensemble is open to all MSU students.

The Diversity Representatives Committee is composed of Under-Represented Minorities from our campus. The committee's goal is to represent the Eagle Diversity Education Center and improve college preparation for potential students by developing closer cooperation between current and future students. Your knowledge of the program and leadership skills will be extremely valuable to this community. The Diversity Representatives Committee is composed of eight (8) subcommittees:

  • Educational Programming: This committee will be in charge of any program that has the intent of educating our community. Some examples of these programs would include programs that are focused on tutoring, resource findings, etc. If you are a member of this committee, you will be in charge of the planning and execution of programs that fall in this category.
  • Entertainment Programming: This committee will be in charge of any program that has the intent of educating our community. Some examples of these programs would include programs that are focused on tutoring, resource findings, etc. If you are a member of this committee, you will be in charge of the planning and execution of programs that fall in this category.
  • Cultural Programming: This committee will be in charge of any program that has an intent of putting an emphasis on the many cultures represented by the Eagle Diversity Education Center. Members of this committee will be in charge of programming that falls within Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, etc. If you are a member of this committee, you will be in charge of the planning and execution of programs that fall in this category.
  • Social Media Marketing: This committee will run the Eagle Diversity Education Center's Instagram. The social media marketer(s) will make sure our social media stays up to date with encouragement for our students, event updates, sign-up deadlines, etc.
  • Event Programming: This committee will be in charge of getting the word out about events the center hosts. Members of this committee will be in charge of the physical event posters, tabling to inform about events, etc.
  • Traditions: This committee will be focused on events that are traditions for the Eagle Diversity Education Center. If you are a member of this committee, you will be in charge of the planning and execution of programs that fall in this category. These events include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Good Ole Family Reunion
    • Eagle Fades
    • Rites of Passage
    • Lavender Graduation
  • Alumni Relations: This committee will work with the African American Alumni Association. The purpose of the committee is to bridge the gap between current students and alumni of all ages. Members of this committee will work with alumni and keep them informed of what is happening on campus and how their donations are helping the minority student body.
  • Organization Preservation: This committee will work with all of the organizations that the Eagle Diversity Education Center serves as a hub for. These organizations include but are not limited to the Black Student Union, Women’s Virtue, R.E.A.L M.E.N, DREAMS, etc. The members of this committee will maintain the preservation and upkeep of these organizations, including their constitution, bylaws, roster, etc.
