Student FAQs

Eagle Books is a course material delivery model that simplifies the student experience, lowers the cost of materials, and ensures students have access to all required course materials on or before the first day of class.

Through this innovative program, physical books are conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and access to digital material is directly within Blackboard. All this is for only $25 per credit hour taken each semester. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return rented physical course materials to the bookstore.

By purchasing your textbooks through the EagleBooks program, you benefit from the University Bookstore's ability to negotiate the lowest prices directly with publishers. This means you get your course materials at a significantly reduced cost compared to purchasing them individually.

In fact, 72% of students surveyed by Barnes & Noble reported that the program provided them with more affordable course materials. This way, you can focus on your studies without worrying about high textbook costs.

  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you.)
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.
  • Your digital materials will be delivered to your course(s) on Blackboard.

This program is open to all undergraduate students enrolled at Morehead State University. Dual-credit students, Craft Academy students, and graduate-level students are excluded.

The program provides eligible students with all required textbooks, eTextbooks, lab manuals, and access codes.

All eligible students will automatically enroll in the Eagle Books program when they register for classes.

The University Bookstore will provide you with a convenient package for physical books.

You can access your digital course materials through Blackboard once your instructor opens the course. First-time users may need to create an account with the publisher providing the course material. Ensure your browser's pop-up blocker is disabled during use.

Students can opt out of the Eagle Books program each semester during the opt-out window. The window opens 30 days before classes start and runs until the last day to add a full-semester class. By opting out, students will not receive their required materials in a convenient package, and access to digital content will be removed after the opt-out window closes.

Opt-Out of Eagle Books

To change your opt-out status and opt into the Eagle Books program, visit the Eagle Books Barnes & Noble portal, or follow the instructions found in the opt-out confirmation email you received after opting-out.

You must make your final selection for the Fall semester by August 25, 2025. Please note that each semester, the last day to opt out is also the last day to add a full-semester course per the University academic calendar.

If students opt out of Eagle Books, they will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials. The University Bookstore offers options for purchasing course materials after opting out.

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of final exams for the semester. Students will receive reminders to their email address ahead of the rental deadline.

Yes, the program allows you to purchase rental textbooks at a reduced rate during the semester.

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the continuation course next semester.

Students will receive email notifications from the bookstore reminding them to verify their order and choose their fulfillment preference. If the student does not opt-out, their materials will be held at the bookstore, and their student account will be charged.

Yes, if the student does not opt-out, physical materials will be held at the bookstore, digital materials will be accessed through Blackboard, and the student account will be charged.

If course materials have been picked up or delivered for the dropped class, those materials should be returned to the bookstore within 48 hours. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required course materials so that you have what you need.

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will remain on your student account, and you will be subject to a replacement and non-return processing fee.

No, there are no restrictions in the course materials you select. All course materials from any publisher in your preferred format are included in the program.

Yes, the program provides students with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the rental return period. 

When a student adds/drops a course, students are provided instructions for returning their course materials, and provide them delivery options for any new courses that have been added.
