OIT HELP DESK
If you're having issues with technology, browse our knowledge base, or report issues through the OIT Help Desk. Log in to my.moreheadstate.edu and select OIT Help Desk under Campus Applications to schedule an appointment, put in a work order, or find solutions.
STUDENT EMAIL & OFFICE 365
Morehead State University’s email system offers students 50 GB of storage through a friendly user interface. With easy access through MyMoreheadState, our email system has the capability to sync with mobile devices and offers access to Microsoft applications and calendaring services online through Microsoft Office 365.
CABLE TV
Eagle Video Network is MSU's digital cable TV system. All residence halls and most campus offices allow free access to more than 100 channels.
STUDENT COMPUTING
Morehead State University offers multiple computer workstations located in the Commons area on the First Floor of the Camden-Carroll Library. In addition to the main Commons area, students can:
- Get help with research at the Research Help Desk.
- Receive assistance with multimedia and technology at the Learning Technology Lab.
- Find solutions to Blackboard issues in the Instructional Technology Center.
- Find tutors for academic assistance at the Tutoring & Learning Center.
The Commons area also includes printing (color and black and white), a projection area that can be reserved for presentations, LCD screens, a SmartBoard, and whiteboards for group collaboration.
SUGGESTED COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS
Below are suggested computer requirements that you can find at a local retailer or online catalog. They are basic system configurations that should meet your academic needs at Morehead State University.
Technical support for MSU students is limited to network access only. We can help with troubleshooting hardware/software issues but computers in need of repairs (hardware/software related) should be sent back to the manufacturer or taken to a local repair shop.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Note: The majority of majors will be okay with purchasing a Windows computer for their academic studies. Music, Art, and some education majors may prefer a Mac computer.

- Network Connection Card - Wireless NIC that supports B and/or G (802.11 b/g)
- Hard Drive Space Free Space - 320 GB or higher
- Drives - CD-RW/DVD Drive/Burner
- Production Software - Microsoft Office Suite*
- Anti-Virus Security Software - Any anti-virus program (ex: McAfee, MS Security Essentials)
- MAC OS/X RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION
- Operating System - Yosemite (10.10) or higher
- Processor - Intel Core i5 or higher
- Memory - 8 GB RAM or higher
- Hard Drive Space Free Space - 3256 GB or higher
- Drives - CD/DVD Burner (Super Drive)
- Software - Microsoft Office Suite*
Note: If you are a Music, Art, or Education major you may prefer a Mac computer. There are several Mac labs on campus for student use, please contact your department.
*Morehead State University has partnered with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Office 365 to MSU students. Microsoft Office 365 provides additional cloud-based tools that students can use for educational, business, and personal tasks. This service, known as Student Advantage and Office 365 ProPlus, allows you to run Office on up to five machines Mac or PC. You can also run Office Mobile for Android or iPhone on up to 5 mobile devices.
BLACKBOARD
Blackboard is MSU's e-learning platform. Instructors use Blackboard to post and distribute course content such as syllabi and handouts, communicate with students via announcements and email messages, and assess student learning through quizzes and online assignments.
Additional access to Blackboard is via your MyMSU account.
