Star Theater

The Space Science Center’s Star Theater at Morehead State University is a state-of-the-art digital planetarium serving the surrounding area of Eastern Kentucky. The planetarium offers public shows on second and fourth Saturdays throughout the year on a first-come, first-served basis: reservations do not need to be made in advance. Tickets may be purchased with cash or a check at the door. We cannot take credit cards. Typically, a planetarium show includes a special feature from our extensive program library as well as a tour of the night sky. The laser system has just been refurbished, so we will be offering laser shows again on these same Saturdays throughout the year.

Star Theater Open House

We invite you to come to the annual open house of the Star Theater being held on Oct. 1, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. We will be celebrating the completion of the full upgrade for the full dome and laser systems, International Observe the Moon Night, as well as the upcoming launch of Lunar IceCube, Kentucky's first deep space mission built right here at the Space Science Center. See new planetarium features, space science tours, and ongoing short videos on Space Exploration missions. Enjoy refreshments, live Kentucky traditional music, a display of locally made quilts with cosmic themes, and hands-on science activities for the kids. Weather permitting, we will have telescope viewing after 8:30. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors, and free for those under 5 and MSU staff and students.
