Today's Youth
Morehead State's Today's Youth (TY) program is designed for out-of-school youth (youth who are not currently attending high school or have already graduated from high school) aged 17-24. TY provides services that assist youth in obtaining training or education and employment. TY at MSU is funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Tuition and Career Assistance
TY may help with tuition assistance if other sources are not available to meet your full financial need. Assistance is provided for two-year associate degree or training programs. Training may be approved at accredited state universities, community colleges, technical colleges or specialized training schools.
Previous TY students have successfully graduated from Morehead State University, Eastern Kentucky University, Maysville Community and Technical College, Kentucky Welding Institute and Ashland Community and Technical College.
Our students receive assistance in career planning and job searches, writing cover letters and resumes, interviewing techniques and moral support.
Work Experience
TY participants have the opportunity to complete a 180 to 270-hour paid work experience related to their field of study. This is a great opportunity to establish professional contacts and gain valuable experience for your resume. Our staff arranges the experience with the work site.
Today's Youth is funded with Department of Labor funds through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, TENCO WIB, and the Buffalo Trace Area Development District. Counties served include: Bath, Boyd, Bracken, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Montgomery, Robertson and Rowan. TY is an equal opportunity program and auxiliary aids are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
