Tests For College Credit
Some students may qualify to "test out" of certain classes or to earn college credit for certain tests available at the Testing Center. There will be a maximum of 30 credit hours for credit for prior learning (e.g., CLEP, DSST, AP, IB, proficiency) courses that can be earned for a baccalaureate degree. (Credit for prior learning is regulated by the University Administrative Regulation 133.04 Credit for Prior Learning.)
CLEP
Students may receive credit for certain courses by taking CLEP examinations. CLEP exams can be scheduled by calling 606-783-2526 or by visiting the Testing Center at 501A Ginger Hall. CLEP exams cost $125 per exam.
Students must purchase a voucher via the CLEP website. The voucher is $95, payable by credit or debit card. On the exam day, students should bring their CLEP voucher, voucher number, and $30 in cash, check or money order to pay the Testing Center fee. Students must bring a government-issued ID that includes a photo and signature.
Advanced Placement (AP) International Baccalaureate (IB) & Cambridge International
The Testing Center does not automatically award credit for AP, IB or Cambridge. Students may come to the Testing Center (501A Ginger Hall) to fill out an AP/IB Credit Request Form (or mail it in).
If your AP scores have not been sent to MSU, contact Advanced Placement at 1-888-225-5427 for information on how to send scores. Contact IBO to have your IB scores sent. Consult Cambridge International's website for info.
Departmental Proficiency Exams
Certain departments at MSU offer the chance to take an exam for credit in specific courses. Your department will be able to offer you more information.

Foreign Language Checklist - *Please note that the permission form must be submitted to the Testing Center with full payment no later than the end of the second week of the semester in which the class listed as proving proficiency is being taken.
DSST
Students may receive credit for certain DSST exams. While not exclusive to military members, DSST exams are funded for military active duty and spouses.
Email your DSST transcript with your name and MSU ID# to testingcenter@moreheadstate.edu for course credit.
