Receiving Your Award

The Office of Financial Aid has analyzed the information you provided on your financial aid application (FAFSA). The types and amounts of aid we can offer you are listed on your Financial Aid Notification (offer letter).

Award Disbursement Date

Aid is awarded and disbursed based on student's enrollment on the last day to add a full semester class.

Your financial aid will be credited to your student account each semester (Student Employment funds are not credited to the student accounts).

The Kentucky Education Excellence Scholarships (KEES) will disburse to student accounts approximately 3-4 weeks after classes begin.

Students will receive one-half of their financial aid award for the fall semester and the other half for the spring semester.

Funds left over after the payment of fees is returned to the student to be used for food, books, clothing, and/or other education-related expenses.

It is important to note that students registered in second-half semester courses may not receive a portion of their financial aid until after those courses begin.

For additional information, contact the Office of Accounting and Financial Services at 606-783-2019.

Transfer Monitoring

Before disbursing funds to a transfer student, the student’s financial aid history at another school must be reviewed.

To ensure that all transfer students receive the correct amount of aid, Morehead State University monitors all students who advance register/enroll for the spring term but were not enrolled during the fall term and are receiving federal financial aid.

For the summer term, students who attended another school during the academic year will be placed on transfer monitoring.

Transfer student monitoring continues for 90-120 days; therefore, aid may be adjusted throughout this time if updated information is received from National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).

Overawards

Federal regulations restrict the total amount of funds for which students may be eligible. Students who receive more aid than they are eligible for will be required to pay back the difference.

Overawards can be avoided by regularly checking your financial aid status via your my.moreheadstate.edu account and by contacting the Office of Financial Aid at 606-783-2011.

Overaward Policy

Overpayments

If you fail to complete either of the semesters for which you receive an aid award, you may have to return all or a portion of your award to MSU in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations. If you fail to repay money as required by the U.S. Department of Education, or if you are in default on student loan repayments, you will not be permitted to receive any further Title IV aid.

Refund Policy

Refunds are not determined through the Office of Enrollment Services, for more information on refunds, please contact the Office of Accounting and Financial Services at 606-783-2019, or view the Refund Policy.

Satisfactory Progress

Federal, state and university regulations require that students maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to receive any type of financial aid at Morehead State University.

Students are encouraged to review the University's Satisfactory Academic Progress policies online or copies are available in the Office of Financial Aid.
