Guard & Reserve Students
As a member of the Reserve Component (which includes the National Guard), you may be eligible for many of the same educational benefits that are available to Active Component members – like Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) and VA educational benefits (GI Bill®).

Step-BY-Step Guide
Follow these steps to help you from applying for admission, all the way to graduation.
Complete MSU's online application (no fee for undergraduate applicants; the $30 application fee will be waived for graduate applicants with proper documentation – DD-214, etc.)
Review MSU tuition and other costs (fees, housing, meal plans, etc.) and find tools to help you estimate your cost of attendance.
You also must apply to the VA to use your educational benefits if you are a veteran. If you are unsure of which benefit you qualify for or want to decide between the Post 9/11 and Montgomery GI Bill®, visit the VA’s website. GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website. When ready to apply, go to How To Apply For The GI Bill And Related Benefits | Veterans Affairs (va.gov), scroll down and click on Find your education benefits form.

Confirm your enrollment by paying your enrollment to guarantee your place in the next class of Eagles. The $75 fee is waived for veterans, active duty, and military-connected students. For fee waiver, please email Jeremy Glover, enrollment counselor for military and adult students (jglover@moreheadstate.edu) or Jen Timmermann, director of transfer services (j.timmermann@moreheadstate.edu).

Morehead State University is a Service Members Opportunity College. Students are awarded credit for basic training and other military courses taken.
Visit Joint Services Transcript to order your non-USAF military transcript. There is no fee for these transcripts. Credit for military service is not evaluated and posted to your record until you have officially matriculated at the University.
Air Force CCAF Transcript requests are accepted by mail only; for more information, contact registrar.ccaf@maxwell.af.mil or 1-334-953-2794.

Once accepted, you will receive an email with your username (Eagle ID). It will be in this format:

You will also receive a separate email with further steps on creating your account, including setting up your new password. Check your spam or junk folder in case this email gets filtered as spam.
Your Eagle account is a one-stop location for email, financial aid, billing, Blackboard, and other student services. You should check your account regularly. Please click the link below for step-by-step directions on how to activate your account.
If you need assistance, please call the IT Helpdesk at 606-783-4357 or submit a ticket for assistance with your account.
You may also schedule a time for one of our representatives to call you to assist with MSU account activations and access. You must provide a telephone number and a non-MSU email to submit a support request.
Check your MSU email account at least once weekly to stay updated on campus events and upcoming deadlines. You can access your MSU email account at my.moreheadstate.edu. You can also set up your email on your mobile device or tablet.
Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. You will need to complete a new FAFSA each year you attend school. For financial aid questions, please call 606-783-2011 to speak with a financial aid counselor.
Since each student's situation differs, the University doesn’t link to external scholarships for military-affiliated students. However, scholarships may be available based on factors like military pay grade, disability rating, wartime service, military specialty (job), or involvement in certain non-profits.
Furthermore, scholarships may also be awarded based on the student’s relationship to a military member, a specific degree, or a selected career path.

If you are awarded one of MSU’s scholarships, you must accept/decline your scholarship(s).
Admitted students for Fall 2024: You will receive an email when you need to accept your scholarships. Please be sure to check your email regularly for this email and do not attempt to accept scholarships until you receive this notification.
All students MUST accept a Financial Responsibility Agreement and pay their balance in full or enroll in a payment plan to activate their meal plan and BeakerBUCKs, to allow textbook charges at the University Bookstore, and to prevent the cancelation of their class schedule. If you need assistance, contact Student Billing.
If you fall below the ACT College Readiness Requirements, schedule a placement test with our Testing Center. You must complete placement testing before attending Student Orientation, Advising and Registration.
At Student Orientation, Advising & Registration (SOAR), you will:
- Receive your Fall course schedule.
- Choose your meal plan. Meal plan options will be available for review in mid-February.
- Accept your Financial Responsibility Agreement.
- Take your EagleCard photo and receive your card. Your EagleCard holds your student account and financial information.
- In-person and virtual sessions are available.
The housing application for the fall term is open now. Reserve your spot for Fall 2024!
After you attend SOAR, sign up for a payment plan.
If you plan to bring a car to campus, you must purchase a vehicle pass. Order your pass through MyMoreheadState.
