Education Abroad Programs
MSU offers several opportunities to study or teach abroad.
Consortiums
KIIS
Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) offers summer and winter study abroad opportunities, with courses that transfer to MSU. Dr. Adrian Mandzy is the faculty coordinator.
CCSA
Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA) offers study abroad opportunities in many English-speaking countries with courses that will transfer to MSU. The faculty coordinators are Dr. Ann Andaloro and Dr. Jason Adkins.
Magellan Exchange
The Magellan Exchange allows one to study for a semester, year, or short-term exchange at 18 international universities in various fields. Students pay MSU tuition while paying local housing and food costs. This is an affordable way to experience another country for a more extended period of time. The application fee is $185 for semester or year-long programs and $75 for shorter-term programs. Faculty-led Programs
Spring Break 2025
- Stockholm-Helsinki-Tallinn: Join Dr. Jason M. Adkins and Dr. Jon Musgrave (business management) from March 13-23, 2025. Dr. Adkins will teach European welfare policy, and Dr. Musgrave will teach global business and entrepreneurship. Activities include meeting with business and government officials, touring parliaments, exploring museums, including the Nobel Prize Museum in Stockholm, visiting military fortresses, and exploring the old towns of Stockholm and Tallinn, Estonia. Highlights include an overnight ferry ride from Stockholm to Helsinki and a day trip to Tallinn, Estonia, formerly part of the Soviet Union. The program price of $3,100 includes flights and other in-country transportation, accommodations, activities, and two group dinners.
- Prague-Munich: Join Dr. Tammy Martin (education) and Mary Claire Williams (social work) on a journey to central Europe and southern Germany. Activities include visiting Prague Castle, volunteering at a center to help victims of the war in Ukraine, and visiting the Dachau concentration camp. The program cost of $3,000 includes flights and other in-country transportation, accommodations, activities, and one group dinner.
- Belfast: Join Dr. Johnathan Nelson (business management) and Dr. Gera Nelson (education) on a trip to Northern Ireland from March 14-23. Activities include meeting with business officials (business management students), helping in a local school (education students), a day trip to Dublin, visiting the peace walls in Belfast, and touring the Northern Ireland coast. The program price of $3,200 includes flights and other in-country transportation, accommodations, and one group dinner.
For all spring break programs, a nonrefundable deposit of $1,500 (unless the program is canceled) is due Friday, Dec. 13.
