Artwork Requirements

By submitting an entry to Inscape, you are granting Morehead State University permission to publish your work in the journal, on our website and in Inscape and/or Department of Communication, Media, Art & Design and Department of English & Modern Languages promotional or publicity materials. Furthermore, submissions must be solely the works of the artist and/or designer. Reproductions or alterations of another designer's or artist's works are not permitted.

Guidelines

You may submit up to three entries for the artwork contest. In addition to submitting the online form below, you must follow these submission guidelines:

  • Only currently enrolled MSU students may enter visual artwork into Inscape.
  • Submissions must be solely the work of the artist. Reproductions or alterations of other artists' works are not permitted.
  • Up to 3 entries may be submitted.
  • All submissions must have been completed while attending MSU
  • Color or black-and-white entries are accepted (if funding allows, art for the interior will be printed in color).
  • All digital submissions must be at least 300 dpi and 6" minimum on its largest side (if the file is under 300 dpi then the image must be at least 12" minimum on its largest side)
  • Cell phone images are typically not a high enough resolution and might not be considered if submitted.
  • Upload your digital art file(s) when you complete your Submission Form.
  • Acceptable file formats include: .jpg, .tif, .pdf and .psd

2-DIMENSIONAL & 3-DIMENSIONAL ENTRIES

You must submit a high-resolution photograph of the work as the actual entry (see digital entries guidelines).

PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the top four pieces. Winners are announced at the Inscape Fine Arts Showcase reception on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 6 p.m. in 111 Claypool-Young.

  • 1st place: $100
  • 2nd place: $75
  • 3rd place: $50
  • Honorable mention: $25
  • Full-time MSU employees (non-student) are not eligible for prizes.

Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

Additional Requirements

You will be required to include a short biography in your submission form. If you are a student, you may include your major at MSU, a brief description of your current artistic projects and any awards you may have won for your work. The staff of Inscape reserves the right to edit or condense biographies submitted.

Sample Bio:

Jane Smith is an art major at Morehead State University, whose work is generally surreal- focusing on a combination of ideas in alchemy, psychology, and geology and how they speak about society as a whole and each of us as individuals. Smith displayed work in the 2016 and 2017 Juried Student Art Exhibits at the Gateway Regional Art Center and had work published in the 2017 issue of Inscape. In 2018, she received an Honorable Mention award in the Senior Exhibition at Morehead State University.
