Scholarship Opportunities
Morehead State University offers a variety of scholarships based on several criteria, including academic excellence, area of study, what type of student you are, where you live, and your need. You are automatically considered for Eagle Assurance, in-state, out-of-state, or transfer scholarships based on your application for admission.
Additional scholarship opportunities are available to those studying Traditional Music through the MSU Foundation.
Hal Rogers Traditional Music Scholarship
The Hal Rogers Traditional Music Scholarship was established in 2020 to assist students in affording their education through scholarships and internships. The award is for one year and is non-renewable.
Application Deadline: June 15
Recipients of the scholarship:

They must be studying at the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music (KCTM) and in good academic standing with MSU

Shall be identified as financially eligible by the MSU Office of Financial Aid
Andrews Family Fund for Student Success
The Andrews Family Fund for Student Success is an endowment benefiting Morehead State University students studying at the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music. The award may be renewed up to three times as long as academic criteria are met.
Application Deadline: June 15
Recipients of the scholarship:

Shall be degree-seeking, regularly enrolled undergraduate students

Shall have a minimum grade point average of 3.0

Shall be identified as financially eligible by the MSU Office of Financial Aid
Departmental scholarships are also available.
Banjo and Bluegrass Music Scholarship Endowment in honor of Steve Cooley
The Banjo and Bluegrass Music Scholarship Endowment, established in honor of Steve Cooley, benefits students studying at the KCTM who prefer banjo players. The award may be renewed up to three times as long as academic criteria are met.
Application Deadline: April 15
Recipients of this scholarship shall:
- Be an undergraduate student of any classification
- Be pursuing a B.A. in Traditional Music or a Minor in Traditional Music
- Preference is given to students who play Banjo as their primary instrument
- GPA is not a consideration for this award selection; however, the student must be in good academic standing with MSU to be eligible
