Out-of-State Scholarships
MSU offers a variety of scholarships based on several criteria, including academic excellence, area of study, where you live, and your need.
Automatic incoming student scholarships

Reciprocity Merit Scholarship Tier 1** | 3.75 GPA and 28 ACT composite | $7,000 |
Reciprocity Merit Scholarship Tier 2** | 3.5 GPA and 24 ACT composite | $4,000 |
Reciprocity Merit Scholarship Tier 3*** | 3.0 GPA and 21 ACT composite | $1,500 |
Alumni Scholarship | Child, grandchild or spouse of an active MSU alumnus | $1,000 |
Awards are based on academic criteria. Final GPA and official ACT scores may affect awards. Awards, except the Alumni Award, may not be combined. Total financial aid cannot exceed the cost of attendance. Subsequent changes do not apply to the terms and conditions of an award.
College credit hours completed before high school graduation, including Eagle Scholars courses, do not affect scholarship eligibility.
*housing stipend cost of honors hall, $1,000 textbook stipend, a designated meal plan, $1,500 one-time education abroad allowance
** Requires on-campus housing for a minimum of 4 semesters. 30% reduced in scholarship for those approved to live off-campus
*** Requires on-campus housing for a minimum of 4 semesters. 50% reduced in scholarship for those approved to live off-campus
