Dance Program
This program provides a foundation for careers in the following:
- Administrative professional for dance companies
- Artistic director
- Choreographer
- Critic
- Educator
- Professional dancer
- Rehearsal director
You will find our alums continuing their education by pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degrees in dance, participating in the American Dance Festival and performing with professional dance companies.
The dance minor, designed for both technical and non-technical dancers, will give you a strong foundation in dance technique, history, composition and performance. You will learn many popular dance forms, including modern, tap, jazz, ballet, improvisation, African, hip-hop and more.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT
Through MSU’s Artist-in-Residency program, instructors from professional dance companies visit campus to conduct workshops and master classes.
You will also be able to participate in dance ensembles and choreography sessions each semester. Learn more information about upcoming Theatre and Dance Productions.
DANCE PROGRAM ADMISSION
Any student meeting MSU admission requirements can enroll in the dance program without a formal audition. Students must pass an audition to participate in the dance ensemble.
