Specialist in Education, Ed.S.
What You'll Learn in the Specialist in Education program
The Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) program offers several specialties to customize your degree to your career goals and interests. For elementary and middle school teachers who have already earned a Master of Arts in Teaching, the Ed.S. program replaces the Rank I program.
What You Can Do with a specialist in education degree
You'll be prepared for careers in teaching, supervision and leadership, including director of pupil personnel, supervisor of instruction and school principal, among other positions.
Admission to the program
To enroll in the specialist in education program, you must be accepted for graduate study at MSU.
Additional Admission Requirements
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Must hold a valid teaching certificate.
- Must have a graduate GPA of 3.5.
- Minimum composite GRE score of 283 on the verbal and quantitative sections.
- One year of successful work experience.
- Interview with the applicant conducted by the Admissions Committee. In the case of MSU graduates where the members of the committee feel that they have sufficient acquaintance with the applicant, the interview may be waived.
